Last week we were lucky enough to have Bianca from the Christchurch Art Gallery come to visit us and teach us about camera-less photography.
We learnt about the artist David Cook who has made a book full of wonderful photos he has taken of Christchurch. We also learnt the light travels in a straight line but when it reaches glass it slightly bends.
Bianca showed us how to make our own photographs without using a camera!
First we drew a picture of something that reminded us of home using vivid or twink pen on a piece of thin plastic. Next we were given a piece of paper that was blue on one side. We placed in on a piece of wood put our drawings on top then added some materials such as lace, leaves and ribbons. We then put glass over top and used pegs to hold it together. We took our pictures outside and sat them in the sun for a few minutes while they developed. We were so excited when we took all the layers off and our picture had printed on to the blue paper - it was like magic! We then placed it in water to set and let them dry.
We loved learning about camera-less photography! Our amazing photos are displayed on the wall in our classroom, please come and have a look!
