We have been lucky with the amazing weather we have had lately and have been loving getting back in the pool!
On Monday we had our athletics day. We had so much fun and all tried our best. One of our highlights was the relay races, when our boys team came third and girls came a close forth! Miss Ward was very proud of everyone!
For Nifty News Johnny brought along sunflowers that he had planted at home with his Dad. He told us that sunflowers can grow taller than a teacher and that sunflowers look up when the sun is out and droop down when you can't see it. We were lucky because Johnny had planted us each a sunflower to take home. We couldn't wait to plant it in our own gardens at home!
Last Wednesday we went to the A&P Show. Some of our favourite things were seeing and holding all the different animals, lots of freebies and the pirate show. We were lucky that the weather held off for us. A big thank you to our wonderful parents for coming along to help. We had so much fun! It has been fantastic to see the sun shining again! Here are some photos of us having fun in the playground on the last day of Term 3! I hope you all have had a fantastic holiday. I am looking forward to seeing your smiling faces on Monday :) Sorry we have been a little quiet on our blog lately. We have been busy preparing for our showcase, Slice of Heaven. The Year 2 team took the audience on a journey across Te Waipounamu, our own slice of heaven! We began our journey with the arrival of the early settlers - thankfully they arrived safely without any leaky boats! We then made our way across to Banks Peninsula and watched some pukeko stomping around it the wetlands. Next we were off to the West Coast where we saw some farmers working hard in the mud. I don't know where they would be without their gumboots! Now we were ready to see some sun so we headed off to the beach to spend some time with summer campers. Finally, we made out way to the marae where we enjoyed some wonderful cultural entertainment. I am extremely proud of the hard work the Room 13 children put in to make our showcase a success! They were fantastic and it was great to see them smiling and having fun! Thank you for coming along to watch us!! Happy Father's Day to our wonderful Room 13 Dads! Here is a little something we put together to show how much we appreciate you. On Thursday we had cricket coaching. We learnt to make a book shape with our hands to catch the ball. Some of us were able to throw the ball up and clap before we caught it again. We played a game where one team was batting and the other team was fielding. Three people would bat at a time and run until the fielders had all the balls back. We had lots of fun learning to play cricket. Some of us are even going to play during summer!
